Cultivating Digital Intelligence:

Connect with the world, and keep abreast of frontiers. Through optimizing course modules and consolidating existing advantages, the MBA program is to continuously improve students’ frontier awareness and the ability of sustainable development. The program updates the curriculum according to SBM’s strategy. To enhance students’ growth and unleash their potential, the program has included 3 course systems of core, selective and special courses, and six course modules of Pre-Term Courses, Understanding the Basics, Management Foundation, Management Breadth, and Management Depth, and Career Development. In Management Depth, a wide variety of concentrations are set considering the disciplinary advantages and features of SISU, the latest trend of international development in business management and current market needs, which includes Fintech, Behavioral Science, Digital Marketing, Data Analysis and Business Computing, Digital Intelligence Borderless Management, and New Technology and Integrated Media Management. In 2021, SISU MBA began to offer a series of forums around the six concentrations where academic professors and industry experts were invited to discuss the development trends in various areas both academically and practically. In addition, with laboratories in SBM as the teaching base, a new course “Practice of Business Data Analysis” is added to the curriculum to provide a quantitative basis for the decision-making and solving of practical problems.

 

Deepening Internationalization:

1Internationalized Curriculum

SISU MBA, keeping abreast of the latest trend in international MBA education, borrows from top international business schools and combine their merits with its own characteristics and resources to form an innovative program design that consists of such progressive modules as Pre-Term Courses, Understanding the Basics, Management Foundation, Management Breadth, and Management Depth, with Career Development running through the whole process. Adjustments are regularly required according to domestic and foreign market trends and industry developments. The program is to actively participate in high-quality international accreditation and benchmark against high international standards to enhance the international influence of the program.

2Internationalized Faculty

SISU MBA is to attract foreign scholars with a global vision and a deep understanding of the differences between China and other countries and regions, and encourages Chinese teachers to participate more in international exchange activities, thereby continuously upgrading the MBA faculty structure. The program also encourages teachers to engage in international collaboration of pedagogic research to build a more internationalized faculty. In order to support teachers’ engagement in international collaborative pedagogic research, improve their capabilities in the global academic arena, increase the faculty’s level of internationalization, and strengthen their ability to cooperate in international research, SISU MBA encourages its teachers to participate in overseas research and training programs. At present, 56.55% of SBM’s full-time teachers have more than one year of overseas training experience. Furthermore, to attract outstanding teachers from abroad to establish long-term and stable cooperation with SISU MBA, the program applies for “MBA Center Regular Teaching Project for Foreign Specialists” for them annually.

3International Exchange Programs

SISU MBA actively expands its international cooperation programs to enrich students’ global experience during their study. With the general strategy of internationalization, SBM continues to develop corporate and overseas resources to engage in international exchanges and cooperation. MBA students can participate in the exchange programs jointly developed by SBM and 23 universities abroad.

SISU MBA keeps pace with the latest trend of international MBA education, and focuses on the international brand effect. In terms of concentrations, the program cultivates digital intelligence to explore the frontiers of the discipline. Integrating cutting-edge fields, professional skills and interdisciplinary education, the program set up six concentrations based on the disciplinary advantages and features of SISU, the latest trend of international development in business management and current market needs, including Fintech, Behavioral Science, Digital Marketing, Data Analysis and Business Computing, Digital Intelligence Borderless Management, and New Technology and Integrated Media Management.

In terms of faculty development, SISU MBA optimizes the faculty structure and introduces management practice professors. In line with the frontiers of MBA education, the program attracts foreign scholars with a global vision and a deep understanding of the differences between China and other countries and regions, and encourages Chinese teachers to participate more in international exchange activities, thereby continuously upgrading the MBA faculty structure. It also engages management practice professors with rich experience in business management, who keep abreast with the latest trends and bring contextualized business practices into the MBA classroom.

In term of teaching pedagogy, SISU MBA actively explores and innovate teaching methods to ensure effective teaching. The program creates a forward-looking pedagogic ecosystem based on the Key Laboratory of Brain-Machine Intelligence for Information Behavior (Shanghai Municipality and Ministry of Education). It encourages its faculty to actively explore innovative MBA teaching methods and integrate the use of group learning, case studies and additional methods to provide students with diverse ways of practicing and learning, trying to conduct a course content reform focused on problem diagnosis and management.

In terms of education process, the cultivation of digital intelligence ability runs through the whole process, and a diversified cultivation platform is established. SISU MBA provides students with ample opportunities for international exchange career development services throughout the program. It takes students’ needs for career development as an important part of talent training, and focuses on improving their core competitiveness in the workplace. The program actively cooperates with more well-known overseas universities to develop high-quality collaborative programs, providing opportunities for MBA students to participate in Business Study Tours (BST), exchange programs or dual-degree programs depending on their own interests, thereby broadening their horizon through personal experience.

 

Promoting Professionalism

SISU MBA attaches great significance to the career development of students, and weaves career cultivation into the whole process of the program. Not only do students have to take the “career development lectures” in the Pre-term Module, but they also need to participate in two times of career activities at least. Over the past three years, SBM has expanded its cooperation with enterprises in targeted industries, including finance, marketing, management, FMCG and manufacturing. For instance, as digital transformation was added as a new concentration in recent years, the program has launched targeted school-enterprise cooperation with China Mobile, China Unicom, Baozun E-commerce, China BeiDou Industry Technology Innovation West Hongqiao Base, Google, PricewaterhouseCoopers Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, in service of the development strategy of MBA program. It also established Practice Base for Student Internships, providing students with opportunities to apply theory to practice. In addition, SBM launches the Corporate Mentor Project, inviting mentors from different industries. Through opinion exchanges, experience sharing, enterprise visits, job recommendations, program operation, and entrepreneurial consultation, mentors can help MBA students to improve their comprehensive ability, expand the field of career development, enlarge the scope of employment, and make new connections in the industry. Furthermore, the program holds Mentor-Mentee sessions, a high-quality communication platform, where students can have systematic consultations on career development, and develop a long-term, systematic career plan with the guidance of the mentors. Adopting the measures above, SISU MBA is dedicated to promoting professionalism in an all-round way, helping students to better adapt to the development of the society.
