On June 2, 2023, the “Digital Transformation of Enterprises in the AGI Era” Forum, organized by the Academic Affairs Office of the MBA Center at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), was successfully held at the British Meeting Room on the Hongkou Campus.

Nikola Negroponte once said, “Computing is not about computers any more. It is about living.” In the past, digitalization bolstered businesses; but today, it determines whether an enterprise thrives or fails. Evidently, in the AGI era, it’s imperative for enterprises to transform digitally. This forum invited five distinguished experts from academia and industry to share their insights with MBA students, including Professor Song Yan, Professor Yu Guoming, Professor Deng Shasha, Ms. Zhang Xin, and Mr. Chen Haijun.

To commence the event, Professor Song Yan, the Executive Deputy Director of the AI and Data Engineering Center at SISU, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Business Management (SBM), SISU, and the Director of the MBA Center’s Academic Affairs Office, delivered the opening remarks. Professor Song said that the MBA Center of SISU focuses on the frontiers of this discipline and introduced a concentration on “Digital Transformation” within the Program Scheme by harmoniously integrating professional courses with practical applications. She hoped that this forum could spark students’ interest in this dynamic field, and encouraged students to pay attention to and choose this concentration. By immersing themselves in professional courses, Professor Song hoped that students could unlock their potential.

Next, Professor Deng Shasha, Deputy Director of the Marketing Science Department and the Deputy Director of AI and Data Science Application Center at SISU, shared her insights into the “Challenges and Opportunities of AGIC for Digital Transformation of Corporations”. Professor Deng humorously introduced the concept of ChatGPT into the challenges and opportunities of current enterprise digital transformation, highlighting the pivotal role of “human beings”. AGIC bridges the gap between people and systems, leading to changes in management models and corporate structures.

Following Professor Song, Ms. Zhang Xin, Assistant Director of the China Reform Securities and Futures Research Institute, shared her expertise on “Practical Applications of Financial Technology in Empowering Industrial Ecosystems and Case Studies”. “Finance is all about risk control” runs through her sharing as the thread. Ms. Zhang emphasized that risk control is at the center of the financial industry, illustrating the application of financial technology and monitoring of risk in pre-lending, during lending, and post-lending phases. She presented abundant authentic data from the platform trial run, providing strong support for decision-making of risk control. Furthermore, Ms. Zhang delved into the platform business model, showing how collaboration with financial institutions can empower industrial ecosystems, which offered effective solutions to the financing challenges faced by Internet finance platforms.
Finally, Mr. Chen Haijun, General Manager of Shanghai Diechuang Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., analyzed the necessity of digital transformation for enterprises in the era of data governance under the theme “Enterprise Transformation and Evolution in the Era of Data Governance”. Mr. Chen discussed the potential challenges that enterprises may face during transformation and proposed helping small and medium-sized enterprises build the Five Core Business Capabilities with EBC platforms and equip them with rganizational capabilities including digital ability and resilience to tackle future uncertainties. Mr. Chen left the audience with the message, “A man of wisdom adapts to times; a man of knowledge acts by circumstances”, expressing his hope and expectations for everyone.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students actively engaged in in-depth interactive discussions. Through this professional forum, students gained a deeper understanding of the topic of “Digital Transformation of Enterprises in the AGI Era”.

As the saying goes, “What’s past is prologue”. May each student continue to innovate, adapt to changing times, and flourish with vitality in this ever-evolving era.
