The Second Corporate Mentor Counselling Program was Successfully Concluded

On the afternoon of June 10th, the closing ceremony of the second phase of Dream in Heart and Walk without Borders Corporate Mentor Counselling Program of SISU SBM, Shanghai International Studies University was successfully held in the Lecture Hall II of Hongkou Campus. Xu Yong, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Chen Xinli, deputy director of the Office of Career Development and Alumni Association, Yang Baihe and Shi Ying, deputy directors of MBA Center, Wang Chun and Li Tan, directors of the Office of Career Development and Alumni Association, and nearly 30 corporate tutors and student representatives who participated in this program attended the closing ceremony. At the same time, the closing ceremony was broadcast live online, and nearly 1,000 corporate tutors who failed to attend on site, participating students and alumni and classmates who were interested in the corporate tutor consulting program watched the live broadcast.

At the opening of the closing ceremony, Xu Yong, secretary of the Party Committee of the SBM, delivered a speech. First of all, Mr. Xu expressed his heartfelt thanks to the corporate tutors for their contributions to the project and affirmed the work of the Vocational Development Office. Mr. Xu pointed out that the “Dream in Heart and Walk without Borders” corporate tutor project is one of the fist products of MBA program in students’ career development, and it is an important link to cultivate MBA students’ career development awareness and ability. The running-in and growth of this project cannot be separated from the full participation of corporate tutors and students. Mr. Xu proposed that the next goal is how to help students improve their employment awareness and organically combine learning planning with career development. He hoped that the continuous launch of the corporate tutor project would help students establish a correct concept of career choice and better carry out work practice and career planning in the future.

Wang Chun from the Office of Career Development and Alumni Association reviewed and summarized the project. The corporate tutor project started on October 30, 2022 and lasted for 7 months. A total of 55 corporate tutors and 84 students participated. Tutors and students submitted a total of 107 counseling summaries. Students mainly communicate with corporate tutors on self-awareness, career planning, entrepreneurship and employment, workplace transformation, team management and interpersonal relationships. According to the industry background of tutors and students, the current corporate tutor project is divided into seven groups namely finance, consulting, great health, supply chain, management, marketing, entrepreneurship+education. Mr. Wang showed some records of the communication process between tutors and students, as well as photos of online and offline activities of each group. There are various forms of counseling and communication, including one-on-one communication, one-to-many communication, participation in forums, corporate visits, entrepreneurial practice, employment recommendation, etc. This project has four characteristics: personalized counseling form, diversified tutor team, full-process follow-up of “college-tutor-student” and public welfare of counseling project. Finally, for the future development of the corporate mentor project, Mr Wang concluded “Thank you for your support to School of Business and Management of SISU, and hope to work with you to build this project into a brand corporate tutor project of similar management schools in China in the future.”

Professors of the school including Xu Yong, Chen Xinli, Yang Baihe and Shi Ying presented the mentor contribution awards to the on-site corporate tutors.

As the representatives of corporate tutors, our six tutors, namely Chen Ke, Liu Aidong, Yuan Jie, Shi Wei, Zhang Lihua and Zhao Zhehao, shared their feelings and experiences of participating in this tutorial project. Chen Ke shared words to the students: strengthening the inner competition, choosing the right platform, leveraging resources and striving for better. Liu Aidong expressed that it is a great honor to have the opportunity to witness the growth of young people. He is also willing to help students in their career development. He hoped that tutors can play a greater role through this platform in the future. Yuan Jie suggested that students and business tutors keep a long-term contact and communication, and form a cultural atmosphere for students and tutors to grow together. Shi Wei encouraged everyone to constantly seek various learning opportunities in the process of career development to adapt to the uncertain employment environment in the future. Zhang Lihua shared the counseling cases of her two classmates and the phased results achieved through this counseling. Zhao Zhehao participated in the corporate tutor project for the first time, believing that this tutorial is a process of promoting mutual growth with the students, and hoping that the students will stand up to praise and slander in the future process of pursuing dream.

Then, three student representatives of Class 2021: Gong Yan from Class FT3, Zhao Kaifang from Class FT1, and Huang Jianfeng from Class PT3, respectively, showed and shared the gains and experiences of participating in this project, and provided some suggestions for the younger generation who wants to participate in the corporate tutor project in the future.

Xu Yong and Chen Xinli presented certificates of completion to the students, and the guests took photos with the professors and students. At this point, the closing ceremony of the second corporate tutor counseling project of School of Business and Management was successfully concluded. This year's corporate tutor counseling program provides the students with the opportunity to communicate and coach their personal career development with corporate tutors. This graduation is the end of this project, and it is also the starting point for students to start a new journey. Everyone promotes each other and continues to go to the future together. It is hoped that more excellent corporate tutors and students can participate in the corporate tutor counseling program. Everyone should always dream and explore without borders.
