The ceremony was traditional, highlighting the idea of I’m the owner of the opening ceremony and taking the student as the main body. It was planned and executed all by the 2014 MBA students. The theme of the ceremony, Covenant worldwide , also symbolized the concept of MBA cultivating talents that builds borderless management. The opening ceremony began with the cheerful music Song of MBA, written by the 2012 MBA students and recorded into a music video by the 2014 MBA students. It vividly showed the excitement of students’ entering SISU MBA.

At the beginning of the ceremony, 5 student representatives from different places from both home and abroad spoke about their own journey to SISU MBA. Mansoor from India said he chose SISU MBA because of his friends’ recommendation and SISU’s good international reputation, and that he expected to achieve a deeper understanding of the world of business in China.

Then, Party Secretary Jiang Feng presented to Professor Su Dongshui a glazed crystal book printed with “the Most Revered Masters of Management of MBA students”, to express the respect to Professor Su’s pioneering contribution to the Oriental Management Theory and his 60th anniversary of his teaching career.

A descendant of the Oriental Management Theory, Prof. Su Zongwei, full-time professor and also Dean of the Business Administration Department came to address the students. He conveyed the “Five Word Sutra” of the Oriental Management Theory, which was, Learning, Behavior, Governance, Deed And Harmony and stressed that the ultimate goal of management is to realize the harmonious coexistence of human beings, of man and society and of man and nature.

SISU MBA has attached great importance to the diversification of the teaching team. On the opening ceremony, Vice President Feng Qinghua, on behalf of the university, bestowed letters of appointment respectively to Mr. Tong Jisheng, and Wang Yanming. During the interview session, Tong Jisheng, who had long served as President of Shanghai Construction Group and Chairman of Shanghai Foreign Economic Group, said that as Prof. Su Dongshui’s student, he has found a secrete to success: that is to make the big target smaller, to make long-term goals shorter and to make short-term goals real. The students were all inspired.

The opening ceremony also unveiled the mascot of MBA. The 2014 MBA students designed a lovely whale as the mascot. Whale is the king of the ocean, meaning all students swimming in the ocean of knowledge. At the same time, the whale’s extraordinary linguistic ability also highlighted the MBA’s avocation of breaking language barriers.

After that, Chancellor Jiang Feng addressed the new batch of students. He said that he was very happy to see the special opening ceremony planned and directed all by MBA students themselves, and that he admired the off-campus guests present. With his experiences in Germany, he suggested that the students not only learn to choose, but also develop perseverance, sticking to their own path.

At the end of the ceremony, MBA students took on the SISU MBA flag from the previous class and pledged together. The oath expressed students’ determination of taking on responsibility and honor. The organizers behind the scene came on stage and expressed their gratitude. The ceremony ended successfully in the music Song of SISU MBA.
